MINIBIKE MOTORWAYS
SYDNEY SHOWGROUND
MOORE PARK SYDNEY
Hi Brian - I was wondering if you've ever had any knowledge of or interest in 'Minibike Motorways' that ran for 5 or so years from '71 to '76 at the old RAS Showgrounds at Moore Park?.
I was involved in it quite heavily but it is hard to fund stuff about it now. If you're interested I have a few tidbits from the era and lots of memories!
Brian Howard.

Brian, I'm pretty sure the speedway wasn't connected in any way with Minibike Motorways. I do vividly recall the nights we'd attend the Speedway though.
I was 12 , 13 and 14 through the years we went. It was only a short 3 min walk from the minibikes to the Speedway. We'd get there so early that we entered through the gate near the Buttercup pavilion (where the minibikes initially started and moved later to the horse pavilions) and marshalling yards where the cars and solo bikes and sidecars would enter. I also recall getting covered in dirt when the solo bikes would fly past us sideways and we'd all very quickly learn when to duck down behind the cover.

They were magical days - unique in a generation. Those days, I fear, have most definitely gone forever but I feel truly privileged
to have lived through them, as must you. Great work on all the websites too - just fantastic!

P.S. I should have mentioned, Minibike Motorways involved blocking off, with street barriers, streets of the showground all the way from sideshow alley up to near the old arts & crafts pavilion. Spanned width-wise from the giant yellow slide across to the speedway. It was an absolute unmitigated fantasy for a tween/teen to spend your weekend in the early/mid 1970s on a minibike on real roads with rules to follow and speed to have :-)

Thanks Brian H
I'm sure this will be of interest to all fans of The Royale.
